Benjamin Graham is the founder of Play Music Melbourne and an active professional drummer, recording engineer, and educator based in Melbourne, Australia.
With more than a decade of teaching experience, Ben has worked with students of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners through to advanced players preparing for VCE performance exams, university auditions, professional recording sessions, and live performance careers.
Alongside teaching, Ben remains highly active in the Australian and international music industry as a touring drummer, recording musician, and engineer. His recording and performance work spans award winning albums, film scores, theatre productions, television productions, live performance, and national touring acts.
Ben holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Music from JMC Academy and an Honours Degree in Interactive Composition from the University of Melbourne, where he received the Marion Thomas Award for excellence in final performance.
In addition to private teaching, Ben has also taught in tertiary education settings, presenting drum tuning and recording masterclasses for university level students.

Ben welcomes all students into his teaching environment and has helped countless drummers begin their musical journey from their very first lesson through to advanced performance and study pathways. While he specialises in supporting intermediate and advanced players with technical development, creativity, recording skills, and professional level performance preparation, he is equally experienced in guiding beginners with patience, clarity, and a strong focus on making the learning process enjoyable and accessible.
Lessons are tailored to each student individually and he places a strong emphasis on creating a supportive, low pressure and stress free environment where students can build confidence, enjoy the process, and progress at their own pace.
